History of Moriah Apostolic Church
Pastor Nathaniel P. Urshan attended University of Indianapolis where he received a degree in History and prepared for a career in education. He also attended Apostolic Bible Institute. In 1974 he received his call to the ministry.
He and Sis. Kathy Urshan pastored Zion Tabernacle in Kokomo for 20 years. He also served in a Bishop role to Victory Tabernacle Church in Marion, Indiana. In addition, he and his wife started a church in South Haven, Mississippi, and assisted in founding the Rock Church in Fort Myers, Florida.
Pastor Urshan is the author of "Basic Bible Principles of Growth", a church growth manual that is used extensively in churches and colleges in the USA and Canada, as well as several foreign countries. He is also author of "Jacob's Ladder" a worship manual.
In February, 2001, approximately 18 people answered the call of God to open an Apostolic Church in Avon, Indiana. Under his and Sis. Urshan's leadership, and with genuine anticipation, they began holding services on the second floor of a professional building located on the Danville/Avon city line. Their focus was the sea of humanity forming in Avon. The church experienced bountiful outpourings of the Spirit of God in its worship and revival efforts. Moriah Apostolic Church was born!
In 2003, after outgrowing the first facility, the congregation purchased a church in the community of Clermont, just a few blocks east of Avon. In the attractive sanctuary, we lifted up the name of Jesus and proclaimed His salvation to the multitudes. Our congregation grew to the point that we had to look for another property to facilitate our growth. To God be the glory we now are in our new location that will allow us to expand onward and upward!
